Here we go...

Post number one. Welcome to my first blog! This may involve quite a bit of me muddling about online as I figure things out, but hopefully we both will gain something from it. I will update this blog pretty frequently, drawing from assignments through my internship at World Relief as well as personal reflection and thought. The hope is to process my fieldwork and experience in the program, as well as figure out more of what direction to take after graduating, i.e. what I want to do when I grow up.

I have high expectations for this "Refugee Resettlement Internship" down in Kent. It seems to combine all my passions: cross-cultural experience, minorities, languages, ESL, building relationships, empowering the vulnerable, holistic ministry, and more. Most of it involves taking refugees to various appointments, setting up apartments for new arrivals, assisting in ESL classes, and helping out at the office. That's a very general overview. I'll explain more later as it comes up. Mostly I just want to give you an idea of what this blog is about, and what I think I'm getting myself into. Still trying to figure out what it will look like to strike a balance between my current job at the thrift store, school, and this internship. Oh, and a personal life...maybe :P
